Accidental death of Shiv Sangram President Vinayak Mete; Car accident on Mumbai-Pune Expressway

Shiv Sangram Association president Vinayak Mete died in a car accident. The accident is reported to have taken place near the Madap tunnel on the Mumbai-Pune expressway. In this accident, Vinayak Mete was admitted to MGM Hospital in Kamothe with serious injuries. However, BJP MLA Prashant Thakur informed that he was declared dead there. The accident took place when Vinayak Mete was coming towards Mumbai along with a colleague and a bodyguard. He was coming to Mumbai today at 12 noon for a meeting with Chief Minister Eknath Shinde regarding Maratha reservation. Meanwhile, on getting information about the incident, state Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis and BJP MLA Praveen Darekar left for MGM Hospital.

How exactly did the accident happen?
Preliminary information is getting that Vinayak Mete’s car was hit from the side by a big truck. “We were coming from Beed towards Mumbai. We were hit by a big truck. The car got stuck in the bumper of the truck and rolled for some distance. Our accident happened at 5 o’clock. But it took an hour for help to arrive. When I called, the staff at the control room did not respond immediately. About 6 ambulances arrived”, said Eknath Kadam, a colleague of Vinayak Mete who was with him when the accident occurred.

Meanwhile, after the demise of Vinayak Mete, political circles are expressing condolences.

The Maratha community was always considered to be in power. But in this state there are Maratha farmers, farm labourers. The face that gave justice to that society was Vinayak Mete. State Cabinet Minister Chandrakant Patil while reacting to the death of Vinayak Mete has said that it was a big shock.

Vinayak Mete was very insistent on Maratha reservation. They were asking questions wherever they got a chance. He had made great efforts for Marathi reservation. Due to this incident, thousands and millions of workers have suffered a big shock. – Chandrakant Patil, Minister
