‘Wedding ceremony at BJP office in Mumbai, but Navradev disappears’; Congress leader’s sharp tweet
Mumbai: Activists including Sudhir Mungantiwar, Mangalprabhat Lodha, Kirit Somaiya and Atul Bhatkhalkar rallied at the Maharashtra BJP office in Mumbai today. Devendra Fadnavis, who played an important role in overthrowing the Mahavikas Aghadi government, had to become the Deputy Chief Minister instead of the Chief Minister. When Devendra Fadnavis announced the name of Eknath Shinde as the Chief Minister yesterday, he had said that he would not join the government. Devendra Fadnavis was sworn in as Deputy Chief Minister yesterday following an order from the Union leadership. A function was held at the BJP’s Mumbai office today but Devendra Fadnavis was not present. Congress leader and former chief minister Prithviraj Chavan has ridiculed Devendra Fadnavis and the BJP over the issue. Prithviraj Chavan tweeted, ‘Wedding ceremony at BJP office in Mumbai, but Navradeo disappears’.

Congress leader and former Chief Minister Prithviraj Chavan has been instrumental in the formation of the Mahavikas Aghadi government. Governor Eknath Shinde was sworn in as the Chief Minister and Devendra Fadnavis as the Deputy Chief Minister after Eknath Shinde and his supporters, MLAs and the BJP, claimed to be coming together after the fall of the Mahavikas Alliance government. BJP held a rally at its Mumbai office today. BJP leaders including Devendra Fadnavis were absent from the rally. Prithviraj Chavan has tweaked the BJP leaders by saying, ‘Wedding ceremony at BJP office in Mumbai, but Navradev is missing’. Chavan has questioned the BJP over Devendra Fadnavis’ absence from the Jallosha program.
BJP leaders absent
Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, BJP state president Chandrakant Patil, Leader of Opposition in the Legislative Council Pravin Darekar, Prasad Lad, Girish Mahajan, Ashish Shelar and Nitesh Rane were absent from today’s BJP rally. It has been said that other BJP leaders including Devendra Fadnavis were not present due to negotiations for power and other meetings.
