And now Jio Studios is all set to create a distinct identity in the Marathi entertainment world. Jio Studios’ production ‘Me Vasantrao’, a musical film released this year, crossed the 100-day mark in theaters. Along with this, the film won two National Awards for Best Playback Singer (Rahul Deshpande) and Best Audiography Sound Designer (Anmol Bhave). The film was appreciated from many levels around this award. And now the next step is that Jio Studios will be producing movies and web series with Marathi veteran actors in the coming time. It will include Mahesh Manjrekar, Prashant Damle, Sukanya Kulkarni, Sayaji Shinde, Subodh Bhave, Jitendra Joshi, Bhau Kadam, Kedar Shinde, Ankush Chaudhary, Rahul Deshpande, Hrutha Durgule, and many other talented Marathi actors. Importantly, it will have projects in a wide variety of genres, right from comedy to thrillers, from true events to love stories, all of which will entertain the Marathi audience.
The upcoming project is the blockbuster comedy film ‘Ghe Double’ starring Bhau Kadam and Bhushan Patil which will hit the theaters on September 30. The film is directed by Vishwas Joshi and produced by Jio Studios and Fine Craft, Bhau Kadam will play a double role for the first time. After that, the currently talked about and many international award-winning film ‘Godavari’ will be released in theaters on November 11. Presented by Jio Studios, the film is produced by Blue Drop Films and Jitendra Joshi Pictures. Jitendra Joshi has played the lead role in this movie. At the same time, talented actors like Vikram Gokhale, Neena Kulkarni, Sanjay Mone and Priyadarshan Jadhav have played important roles.
The new year 2023 will begin with director Kedar Shinde’s Khumasdar style film “Baipan Bhari Deva”. Presented by Jio Studios, produced by Madhuri Bhosle, the film will hit the theaters on January 6, 2023 in the New Year. In this film, the audience will get to see the best actors like Rohini Hattangadi, Vandana Gupte, Sukanya Kulkarni, Deepa Parab, Shilpa Navalkar and Suchitra Bandekar. About the film, Sukanya Kulkarni-Mone said, “This story is about every woman and it was a wonderful experience to share the screen with the wonderful co-stars of this film. And I thank Kedar for making me a part of this delightful film”. Nipun Dharmadhikari and Vaidehi Parasurami in the lead roles, the film ‘Ek Dok Tin Char’ will hit the screens in the month of February in the New Year. And importantly, this film is directed by Varun Narvekar, who is going to be his next film after the much-hyped ‘Muramba’. It is a surprise love story of a young couple. Produced by Ranjit Google, Keur Godse, Nipun Dharmadhikari, Neeraj Biniwale under Jio Studios Presents, Bahava Entertainment and 16 By 64 Productions, this movie is sure to entertain the audience to the fullest.
After this, the popular film ‘Unad’ presented by Jio Studios will be released in theaters in the summer of 2023. Aditya Sarpotdar has handled the direction of this film. Meanwhile, ‘Unad’, produced by Jyoti Deshpande, Ajit Arora, Chandresh Bhanushali and Pritesh Thakkar, is directed towards the youth and stars Ashutosh Gaikwad, Hemal Ingle, Abhishek Bharate, Chinmay Jadhav, Devika Daftardar and Sandesh Jadhav in lead roles. ‘Unad’ has recently been selected as an official entry for the International Competition of Feature Films in the Youth section at the Zlin International Film Festival held in Czech Republic.
Along with this, Jio Studios has announced a thriller film. The name of this movie is ‘4 Blind Men’. The film is based on the parable of four blind men and an elephant. Produced by Nitin Vaidya and directed by Abhishek Merukar, the film stars Ankush Chaudhary in the lead role and also stars Shubhankar Tawde, Sankarshan Karhade, Shekhar Date and Mrunmayi Deshpande. With the film, Jio Studios is all set to make its mark in the Marathi digital world as well. ‘Eka Kale Che Mani’ is an exciting web series coming from Jio Studios and is going to be a different story of a quirky character and a family. This series is produced by veteran director, producer and actor Mahesh Manjrekar and this web series is directed by Atul Ketkar. The main attraction of this series is that the superstar actor of Marathi theater Prashant Damle will be playing the lead role. He will also be joined by Hrutha Durgule, Vandana Gupte, Pournima Manohar, Rishi Manohar, Ruturaj Shinde, comedy star Sameer Chowgule and Vishakha Subhedar.
Regarding this web series, producer Mahesh Manjrekar says, “The interests of the youth of the current generation are different and this creates contradictions and chaos in our daily life and the fun of these new ideas will be seen in this series Jammat, the main thing is that we have met a great partner like Jio Studios. ” After “Eka Kale Che Mani”, the thrilling thriller web-show ‘Kalasutra’ based on Salil Desai’s novel ‘Murder Milestone’ is coming soon. This thrilling action packed web series is directed by Bhimrao Mude and produced by Manjiri Subodh Bhave-led Kanha Productions along with Jio Studios. It will feature a stellar star cast of renowned actors Subodh Bhave, Sayaji Shinde, Anant Jog, Urmila Kanetkar-Kothare, Bhau Kadam, Pushkaraj Chirputkar, Shubhankar Tawde, Umesh Jagtap and Ashwini Kasar.
Regarding this web series, Subodh Bhave said, “Ever since I read this novel, I wanted to bring this story to the audience and the happy thing is that Jio Studio is fully behind us to bring this story to the audience.” And the important web series in this series is ‘Jakkal!’ Based on a sensational murder case in Pune in the 1970s, the web show explores the extremes when ordinary middle-class kids unknowingly turn to the path of crime and the extremes they can go to.
This is the concept of director Vivek Wagh and he has been working on this topic for the past four years. The series is produced by Shivam Yadav and Karthiki Yadav of A Culture Canvas Entertainment Production.
