The municipality will make arrangements for the accommodation of the students studying for the competitive exams

Efforts are being made by the municipal administration to arrange accommodation for students from poor families coming from rural areas

Pune: Considering the increasing number of students preparing for competitive exams in the city, the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) is taking steps to provide accommodation for these students. Efforts are underway to arrange housing for students from rural areas, particularly those from underprivileged families.

A few months ago, a fire broke out in a study center in Navi Peth. In response, Municipal Commissioner Dr. Rajendra Bhosale instructed the construction department to survey study centers across the city. The survey, conducted by both the construction and fire departments, covered 191 study centers. The report on the current conditions of these centers was submitted to the PMC Commissioner. The report highlighted issues such as the structural integrity, safety concerns, and lack of necessary facilities at the centers.

Dr. Bhosale also interacted with students at these study centers to understand their difficulties. Most of the students attending these centers come from rural areas, and due to their families’ financial hardships, they face accommodation challenges. The Municipal Corporation is making efforts to provide housing facilities for 500 to 1,000 students from underprivileged families who are preparing for competitive exams, as stated by Dr. Rajendra Bhosale.
