Shiv Sena’s push again; Opportunity given to ordinary Shiv Sainiks for the Legislative Council too

Mumbai: In Maharashtra, the Rajya Sabha and Legislative Council elections are in full swing. With the BJP and Mahavikas Aghadi deciding to field additional candidates, it is clear that this election will not be without opposition. Therefore, curiosity has arisen as to who will prevail in this political battle. After the candidates for the Rajya Sabha elections have been decided, the names of the candidates for the Vidhan Parishad elections are also being discussed and the names of two Shiv Sena candidates have come to the fore.

Voting for 10 seats in Maharashtra Legislative Council will be held on June 20. Out of these 10, BJP has the required number of votes to be elected in four seats, while Shiv Sena and NCP have two votes each and Congress has one vote each. So the fight for the tenth place is going to be tough. It is learned that Shiv Sena will give a chance to Sachin Ahir, the Pune liaison chief and Amsha Padvi, the party leader from Nandurbar, in the Assembly elections. The Shiv Sena had announced the name of Kolhapur district chief Sanjay Pawar for the sixth seat in the Rajya Sabha elections. The party workers are expressing satisfaction over the opportunity given to an ordinary Shiv Sainik. Similarly, while the names of many senior leaders of Shiv Sena are being discussed for the Legislative Council, the name of Amsha Padvi from Nandurbar has come to the fore.

What did Amsha Padvi say after the name came up for discussion?

I have been faithfully working for the party for the last several years. Shiv Sena chief Uddhav Thackeray has decided to give me a chance and I have been informed about this by party leader Sanjay Raut, said Amsha Padvi.

How many votes are required for the Legislative Council?

A candidate needs 27 votes to be elected to the Legislative Council. As the strength of BJP and allies is increasing to 113, four seats of BJP can be easily elected. On the other hand, two MLAs each from Shiv Sena and NCP from Mahavikas Aghadi will go to the Legislative Council. So Congress will get one seat. Even after that, those who have the first preference votes will have to propose 12 votes for the second candidate.
