The shocking incident took place at Kalamba Central Jail in Kolhapur when a prisoner attacked the superintendent inside the jail. Superintendent of Kalamba Central Jail Chandramani Indalkar was attacked by an inmate inside the jail. However, due to the caution of Chandramani Indalkar, he survived briefly. Indalkar’s hand was injured in the incident. The incident took place during a search of the prison barracks on Wednesday.
Prisoner attacks superintendent with a piece of paper
Prison Superintendent Chandramani Indalkar along with officers and staff were inspecting the barracks at Kalamba Jail this (Wednesday) morning. While inspecting a barracks, an inmate attacked them with a piece of paper. Superintendent Indalkar, who was alert at this time, attacked the prisoner. The other staff members who were with him caught the prisoner, thus avoiding a major accident. Superintendent Indalkar’s hand was injured in the attack. He was treated in the medical ward of the jail.
Anger over the removal of Watchman
The assailant had come to Kalamba Jail from Ratnagiri in September 2021. He was given the job of watchman. He had beaten another prisoner while working as a watchman. He was therefore removed from the post of Watchman. It is learned that he attacked prison superintendent Chandramani Indalkar out of anger.
