Speaking in his first speech in the Legislature as Chief Minister, Eknath Shinde responded strongly to the critics. ‘BJP-Shiv Sena government has been formed in Maharashtra today. We have taken Balasaheb’s thoughts forward. Not only the state, but the country took note of this incident. People stepped out of power. I was the Urban Development Minister, eight to nine ministers came out with me. Eknath Shinde was a great leader of the state and the country on the one hand and a soldier of Balasaheb Thackeray and Anand Dighe on the other. A number of serious allegations were leveled against Eknath Shinde after he revolted against the party leadership along with 39 Shiv Sena MLAs and some independent MLAs. Shinde has answered all these allegations. ‘There were many attempts to break the MLAs with me, some people said we are in touch with 20, some said 25. However, the MLAs who claimed to be in touch could not name any of them. I personally sent a MLA on a charter flight. So no one was forced. Despite having 115 MLAs, Devendra Fadnavis showed me generosity by making me the Chief Minister. I also thank Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah, BJP National President JP Nadda for that, ‘said Chief Minister Shinde.
