Up-to-date multi-storey parking will be provided at three crowded places in the city namely Pimpri Bhaji Mandai, Chroma Show-room and Chinchwad Railway Station. This parking will be constructed on Public-Private Partnership (PPP) basis. Therefore, the citizens will get parking facilities on a large scale.
The population of Pimpri-Chinchwad city is around 25 lakh and the number of vehicles is more than 16 lakh. Citizens travel by their vehicles in large numbers for various reasons. While doing this, parking the vehicles at the right place has become a difficult issue day by day. Pimpri – Chinchwad is a fast growing city with a reputation as an industrial city. While developing the city, the municipal corporation has to do many things like infrastructure, communication system, transportation system, health, roads, water supply, sewage system, parks, swimming pools, grounds, parking system for the convenience of the citizens.
It is very important to provide parking facilities for the increasing number of vehicles in the municipal limits due to the increasing population day by day. For this, ‘Pay and Parvâ’ scheme was started from 1st July 2021 at some important places on the roads. However, the problem of parking has become complicated in the city. Therefore, the issue of setting up a parking lot on an experimental basis at crowded places in the city was under the consideration of the administration. For this purpose, the reserved parking spaces of the Municipal Corporation were directly inspected along with the Additional Commissioner. They mainly have space available near old vegetable market near Pimpri flyover, near Chroma Show-room in Pimpri and near Chinchwad railway station.
It will be possible to arrange modern multi-storied parking in all these three places. Apart from this, these spaces are for parking lot reservation and are owned by the municipal corporation. A multi-storey parking arrangement is possible at this location through Public-Private Partnership (PPP). All these three places are very congested and if parking arrangements are made there, citizens will get parking facilities on a large scale. It will also help to solve the problem of traffic congestion. Drivers will have to be disciplined. It will also add to the municipal income. For this, a parking plan and a detailed request proposal (RFP) have been prepared for this site with the help of expert consultants.
