Kalyan-Dombivli Municipal Commissioner Visits Pimpri Municipal Corporation’s Various Projects

Pimpri Chinchwad | Due to the innovative projects, infrastructure, and various ambitious initiatives of the Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation, significant progress has been made in the city’s sustainable development, which has also helped improve the quality of life for its citizens. “Our efforts will be to adopt and implement similar inclusive welfare policies,” said Kalyan-Dombivli Municipal Commissioner Indurani Jakhad.
Indurani Jakhad (IAS), along with her delegation, visited the Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation’s main administrative building and explored various projects and initiatives. She shared her thoughts during the visit. The delegation also included Kalyan-Dombivli Municipal Corporation’s Additional Commissioners Yogesh Godse, Harshal Gaikwad, City Engineer Anita Pardeshi, Deputy Commissioners Atul Patil, Ramesh Misal, Swati Deshpande, Avadhut Tawde, Executive Engineer Sandeep Tambe, Yogesh Gote, Pramod More, Assistant Engineer Prasad Sukadev, Assistant Engineer Rahul Mhatre, and officials from Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation, including Commissioner and Administrator Shekhar Singh, City Engineer Makrand Nikam, Deputy Commissioner Anna Bodde, Special Officer Kiran Gaikwad, Assistant Commissioner Shrikant Kolpe, Vijaykumar Thorat, and Administrative Officer Sangeeta Bangar.
Commissioner Jakhad remarked that it was inspiring to gain insights and experiences from the various projects and initiatives undertaken by Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation. She highlighted that ambitious projects like Waste-to-Energy, Waste-to-Biogas are excellent examples of how urban sustainability can turn challenges into opportunities. She also appreciated the project like Divyang Bhavan, which symbolizes the efforts and commitment to integrating marginalized communities into the mainstream with dignity. The initiatives taken by the Education Department to improve the quality of education, green initiatives by the Environment Department, and advanced techniques adopted by the Fire Safety Department were also acknowledged as clear indicators of the municipality’s broad and inclusive approach to development. Furthermore, the efficiency in tax collection systems and the excellent performance of the Medical and Health Department underscore the municipality’s commitment to citizen-centric administration. She expressed her eagerness to incorporate insights from these projects into Kalyan-Dombivli’s development plan.
During the visit, the delegation was given a computerized presentation about various projects, schemes, and initiatives implemented in the city, which included the tax collection system, Smart Sarthi, fire safety surveys, urban streetscapes, and initiatives undertaken by the Education Department. Additionally, the delegation visited various projects like the roads developed according to urban street designs on the Mumbai-Pune-Nashik road, the Divyang Bhavan at Morwadi, the Waste-to-Energy project at Moshi, the Waste-to-Biogas project, Pimpri’s 8 to 80 garden, the Linear Garden at Pimpri-Saudagar, and the hawker zones under various flyovers in the city.
Meanwhile, Commissioner Shekhar Singh mentioned that to achieve the city’s comprehensive development, the municipality is implementing various innovative initiatives and projects in all sectors such as health, medical, education, finance, environment, and civic security, using advanced systems with citizens at the center to provide faster services. Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation’s projects like Waste-to-Energy, Integrated Command Control Center, Green Bridge, Waste-to-Biogas, and Divyang Bhavan are becoming model initiatives for other municipalities. The integration of various services into the e-governance platform has allowed citizens to directly communicate with the administration without any barriers. These digital tools have not only increased the municipality’s efficiency but also improved its inclusivity. Modern technology is being used to survey properties in the municipality limits through drones, providing precise measurements of every property. The municipality is also focused on making public spaces more engaging for pedestrians, cyclists, young school children, and residents, and the Green Bridge project is part of this initiative. The project emphasizes civic participation and innovation.
The municipal corporation is also taking various steps to ensure that students in municipal schools have access to necessary facilities for their holistic development and the nurturing of their talents. Counselors have been appointed in municipal schools to understand and guide students in their social, emotional, physical, and developmental needs. Mentor teachers have been assigned to address various issues faced by schools and teachers. The municipality also organizes Bharat Darshan tours for students to achieve district-level excellence in the state scholarship exams. Additionally, data entry operators have been appointed to reduce the workload on teachers. Moreover, the municipality is focused on addressing citizens’ complaints promptly through Smart Sarthi, ensuring the immediate resolution of issues, as informed by Commissioner Shekhar Singh.
