BJP MLA Mahesh Landge’s ambitious Project
Pimpri : Ajit Pawaris set to welcome a new addition to its cityscape, the Biodiversity Park, which is being developed in Talwade. Spanning around 70 acres, this ambitious project aims to restore the natural ecosystem. The foundation stone of the project was laid in a virtual ceremony by Maharashtra’s Deputy Chief Minister and Pune District Guardian Minister, Ajit Pawar on Wednesday (October 9th).
The initiative was spearheaded by Bhosari MLA Mahesh Landge, who persistently lobbied with the Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) and the state government to bring this project to life. The funds for the project will be sourced from the state government’s “Majhi Vasundhara” initiative and central government resources.

Supporters of MLA Mahesh Landge and local residents of Talwade participated in the cornerstone laying ceremony. Among those present were prominent members of the Bhalekar family and community leaders including Gopal Bhalekar, Shantaram Bhalekar, Ramesh Bhalekar, Sambhaji Bhalekar, Dattatray Nakhate, Bandu Bhalekar, Ramdas More, Asmita Bhalekar,Vaishali Bhalekar, Sushma Patil, Nilesh Bhalekar, Sharad Bhalekar, Somnath Memane, Shankar Bhalekar, Pramod Bhalekar, Amol Bhalekar, Pankaj Awate, Yuvraj Bhalekar, Suraj Kalokhe, Mahesh Kudpane, Mahesh Bhalekar, Sampat Bhalekar, Bhanashet Bhalekar, Pandurang Bhalekar, Pandabhau Sane, Dinesh Bhalekar, Amol Walunj, Kiran Nakhate, Ramdas Kute,Ajit Bhalekar, Bunty Bhalekar, Sonya Bhalekar, Sampat Bathe.
Significance of the Project
According to Manoj Sethia, Deputy City Engineer, the park will foster a more sustainable coexistence between humans and nature. It will serve as a living example of ecological restoration, environmental education, and community engagement. The project will significantly enhance the city’s natural beauty while raising awareness about the importance of biodiversity.
The Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) has already won state-level recognition, securing the first prize in the Amrit Group for outstanding environmental efforts under the “Majhi Vasundhara” campaign. An investment of INR 10 crore has been earmarked for the development of the park, with additional funds being sought from central government schemes.
Biodiversity Park Features
The park will cover 70 acres and include a range of eco-friendly amenities such as native tree plantations, wildlife habitats, soil conservation, and multiple themed sections. Key features include: Entrance gates, bird nest walls, parking, golf cart and cycle stations Amphitheater, souvenir shop, workshops, café, and butterfly garden Riparian and wetland areas, orchidarium, themed parks, eco-friendly lighting, and picnic spots Waste and water management systems, public address systems, and more
