‘Dussehra Gift’ for beneficiaries of ‘Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana’

Housing units to be distributed to beneficiaries in Pimpri and Akurdi

Pimpri : Under the Central Government’s Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY), the Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) has constructed housing units in Pimpri and Akurdi for economically weaker sections (EWS). This year’s Dussehra is set to be a joyous one for the beneficiaries of this project, as the civic administration is preparing to hand over keys to the new homeowners soon.

The PCMC has built six buildings comprising 568 units in Akurdi and two buildings with 370 units in Pimpri under the PMAY scheme. These projects are funded by the Central Government, State Government, and contributions from the beneficiaries themselves. The construction of the housing units has been completed, and the beneficiaries have been selected.

BJP MLA of Bhosari assembly constituency Mahesh Landge said, “Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of ‘Housing for All’ has been successfully implemented across various locations in Pimpri-Chinchwad through the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana. This initiative is helping the common people of Pimpri-Chinchwad achieve their dream of owning a home, while also moving the city toward becoming slum-free. The beneficiaries of the Pimpri and Akurdi projects have been eagerly awaiting possession of their homes for many days. With the upcoming inauguration, they will finally receive their rightful homes.”

For the past two months, the beneficiaries have been paying home loan installments, but they had not yet received possession of their homes. In light of this, BJP MLA Mahesh Landge held a meeting with the Municipal Commissioner and other officials. During the meeting, the administration assured that action would be taken promptly. As a result, the key distribution ceremony is expected to take place within a week.

Originally, the housing projects in Pimpri and Akurdi under the PMAY scheme were reserved for the homeless. However, after persistent follow-up with the state government, the reservation was amended to cater to economically weaker sections, considering the wider public interest. Following the amended reservation, the foundation stone was laid, and the project was completed. The allocation process has been concluded, and now the keys are being distributed.

“From the reservation change to the project’s inauguration, the mission has been accomplished. I feel satisfied,” remarked MLA Mahesh Landge.
