Discussions on the failure of Mahavikas Aghadi rejected, will win 6 seats in the Legislative Council: Balasaheb Thorat

Mumbai: Eleven candidates are in the fray for 10 seats in the Maharashtra Legislative Council. Therefore, it has become clear that the turnout of the Legislative Council elections will increase like the Rajya Sabha elections. Discussions were going on that the Congress in the Mahavikas Aghadi would withdraw its second candidate. However, with the Congress retaining another candidate in the fray, it became clear that elections would be held.

Senior Congress leader and Revenue Minister Balasaheb Thorat spoke to the media after the meeting. The quota of the Legislative Council is 26 votes. Balasaheb Thorat expressed confidence that all parties in Mahavikas Aghadi, Independents will vote for us. Thorat said that NCP and Shiv Sena were not asking us to withdraw our nomination papers but were discussing to help us. There is nothing wrong with the Mahavikas front. 6 candidates of Mahavikas Aghadi will win for the Legislative Council, said Balasaheb Thorat.

BJP has fielded Pravin Darekar, Ram Shinde, Prasad Lad, Uma Khapre and Shrikant Bhartiya for the Legislative Council. Shiv Sena has fielded Sachin Ahir and Amashya Padvi for the Assembly elections. So, NCP has nominated Eknath Khadse and Ramraje Naik Nimbalkar. So, Congress has nominated Bhai Jagtap and Chandrakant Handore. Now that 11 candidates are in the fray for 10 seats, the turnout has increased.
