3 killed, mother and child killed on Mumbai-Goa highway

Mumbai: Accidents are on the rise in Maharashtra. Even now, a similar accident has taken place on the Mumbai-Goa highway in Lanza taluka of Ratnagiri. A mother and child were killed on the spot and a truck driver was also killed in the accident which took place around 8.30 pm on Sunday. So some are known to be serious.

According to the information received, the accident took place on Anjanari bridge. The truck, which was heading towards Goa, lost control and collided with a Maruti Suzuki. The beating was so severe that the mother and child were killed. Both the vehicles fell into the Kajal river about 30 feet and the truck fell on top of the car. The truck driver also lost his life.
According to police, truck driver Vijesh Sawant, 35, died on the spot while truck cleaner Jairam Tambe, 24, sustained minor injuries. The deceased have been identified as Sameer Shinde (35) and his mother Suhasini Shinde (60). Sameer and his family are residents of Andheri East. The family was returning from Malvan to their hometown Chiplun. The youth’s wife and father were critically injured in the incident and the injured have been admitted to the ICU of a private hospital in Ratnagiri.

The accident took place when the truck driver lost control on the slope taking a turn in front of the bridge. Police are investigating the incident and the injured are undergoing treatment.
