Today, the Supreme Court again heard the ongoing controversy about who exactly Shiv Sena belongs to. This time the court has given important orders. The case has now been handed over to a five-judge constitution bench and the next hearing will be held on Thursday. Also, the court has clarified that the Election Commission will have the authority to take the final decision regarding the party symbol. The rebel group led by Eknath Shinde and Shiv Sena chief Uddhav Thackeray have filed conflicting petitions in the Supreme Court on the issues of disqualification of 16 MLAs of Shiv Sena, election of new Assembly Speaker, whip drawn by the party.

Meanwhile, the court had postponed the hearing on August 12 on the internal dispute in Shiv Sena for 10 days. Accordingly, the hearing was expected on August 22. But the hearing was adjourned as one of the judges of the three-judge bench was not present. Even yesterday (Monday) it was said that the hearing will not be held today as the work of Maharashtra is not included in the supplementary list of the Supreme Court. But finally in the morning the Supreme Court had approved to take up the case of power struggle.
