What is the state’s winter rain experience, winter break, rainfall in these areas, IMD update?

Due to the low pressure area formed in the Bay of Bengal, the temperature has increased and the cold force has decreased. The state will have cloudy weather on 25th and 26th December. Due to this, the force of cold will subside.

Pune:Last week, the temperature in the state dropped significantly due to the increasing cold weather. However, the cold has now subsided. The cold weather has eased as the chilly winds from the north have diminished. At the same time, favorable conditions for rain have developed. A low-pressure area has formed over the Bay of Bengal, and the pressure is expected to increase in the northeast. This will create a conducive environment for rain across the state. Due to the cold, dry winds from the north and the moisture-laden winds from the Arabian Sea, there is a possibility of rain accompanied by thunder in parts of central Maharashtra, Marathwada, and Vidarbha, as stated by senior meteorologist K.S. Hosalikar.

The formation of a low-pressure area over the Bay of Bengal has led to a rise in temperature and a reduction in the intensity of the cold. Cloudy weather is expected in the state on December 25 and 26, causing the cold to subside. As a result, the temperature in many cities will rise. The Meteorological Department has predicted the possibility of rain in parts of Maharashtra between December 26 and 28. After that, the cold will intensify again starting from Monday, December 30.

Forecast of light rain:
For the past few days, the state had been experiencing severe cold, with temperatures in several cities dropping to as low as five degrees Celsius. However, the weather is now changing. This change is attributed to a Western Disturbance, which is why light rain is expected from December 26. On Monday, the maximum temperatures recorded were 29°C at the Colaba center and 28.7°C at the Santa Cruz center.

Tourism enjoyment due to reduced cold:
As we approach the final week of the year, many people are enjoying extended holidays due to Christmas. With the reduction in the cold, many have taken this opportunity to travel with their families. Tourist spots across the state are seeing a surge in visitors. In Kolhapur, tourists at the Radhanagari dam area are enjoying the scenic beauty despite the chilly weather.

Rain forecast:
• December 26: Southern parts of Kolhapur, Sangli, and Solapur districts.
• December 27: Parts of Khandesh (Nashik region), Central Maharashtra (Pune region), North Marathwada, and Western Vidarbha.
