Protests have been staged in the area, announcing the hope of a ‘single Jidda refinery canceled’. Therefore, the refinery project in Konkan has caught the attention of many. A statement from the company said that the survey work in the area should be stopped immediately.
The refinery project is strongly opposed by the villagers. Attempts to force the survey could lead to a serious law and order situation. In the last few days, it has been observed that illegal land survey, core cut test, illegal placement of survey number on private land, drones flying in the space of Gram Panchayat are taking place within the limits of Gram Panchayat. For this, permission of Gram Panchayat should be sought, it is said in this statement.
It is also learned from the media that the survey is related to the proposed refinery. The Gram Sabha has passed a resolution against the refinery of our Gram Panchayat. The villagers are strongly opposed to the refinery. Our Gram Panchayat has not received any proposal for conducting the survey. Opposition groups called for an immediate end to the crackdown on dissent. Also, if any type of survey is to be conducted, the proposal should be submitted to the specified Gram Panchayat first. The Gram Panchayat will take appropriate decision on it through Gram Sabha or other means. However, it has been requested that care should be taken to ensure that no further survey is conducted without the permission of the Gram Panchayat.
