Monsoon 2022: Monsoon arrives in this state four days in advance, warning of heavy rains in 5 days

New Delhi: The monsoon has arrived in the country and rains have lashed many states. The southwest monsoon has reached West Bengal four days ahead of schedule. In such a scenario, torrential rains are expected in the coastal areas of West Bengal. According to the meteorological department, the arrival of monsoon in the northeastern states has led to torrential rains in Assam and Meghalaya.

According to the meteorological department, heavy rains are expected in the northeastern states and sub-Himalayan west and in the next five days due to strong cyclonic winds along the coast of North Odisha and parts of West Bengal.

Heavy rainfall forecast for northeastern states

According to the IMD, the southwest monsoon has advanced to parts of the north-west Bay of Bengal, northeast and east-central parts of the Bay of Bengal and reached most parts of Mizoram, Manipur and Nagaland. Due to the onset of monsoon, the meteorological department has forecast torrential to heavy rains in many districts till the morning of June 8.

Heavy rains also lashed Karnataka, Kerala and Lakshadweep

Light rains with thunderstorms are expected in the Ganges districts of West Bengal in the next five days. The meteorological department has forecast rains for the next five days in coastal areas of Karnataka, Kerala, Mahe and Lakshadweep and in the southern part of the country. According to the meteorological department, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, northern Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and parts of Karaikal will receive showers for the next five days.

This year the monsoon is normal

Meanwhile, maximum temperatures are rising in northwest India and the meteorological department has warned of heat waves in Rajasthan, South Punjab and South Haryana for the next two days. The meteorological department said on Monday that the monsoon is expected to remain normal this year. According to the IMD, the distribution of monsoon rainfall will be even across the country at this time, except for the lowest areas in Northeast India and the Southwest Peninsula.
