Rajesh Patil, Commissioner and Administrator of Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation, was finally sacked. The transfer is in the background of the infamous Sparsh scam along with the transfer of power in the state. NCP’s former Mayor Yogesh Bahl took the ‘wicket’ of the then Additional Commissioner Ajit Pawar with the help of Patil and the strength of the Mahavikas Aghadi government. Former BJP corporator Tushar Kamthe and NCP corporator Sulakshana Shilwant-Dhar made an effective plea to the Ministry of Urban Development to defend him. Patil failed to explain this satisfactorily. Due to this, there is a discussion in the municipal circles that they had to face the hasty transfer action.
The Kamthe- Shilamwat vs. Bahl debate was well received in the municipal hall and outside. There was a picture that Bahl got involved in this controversy due to the hasty transfer of Ajit Pawar. However, after the Mahavikas Aghadi came to power, the Shinde-Fadnavis government was formed in the state. The hearing was held before the present Chief Minister and then Urban Development Minister Eknath Shinde in the presence of Minister of State Prajakt Tanpure. At that time, the ‘conspiracy’ in the touch case was revealed.
Before the touch incident, the then health chief Dr. Anil Roy’s rights were frozen. However, Roy made the wrong comment on Sparsh without authority at Bahl’s behest. Actually, a total of 19 organizations worked in the Municipal Corporation during the Covid period. Bills have been paid to all these institutions. According to the agreement, 65 percent of the seeds were agreed to be provided. Former mayor Yogesh Bahl wanted to get the auto cluster work to his close organization. This dispute started from this.
Meanwhile, Dr. Kamthe and Shilwant brought up the case of Bahl’s partner depositing money online in Anil Roy’s account. Interestingly, Commissioner Rajesh Patil refused to make a satisfactory disclosure in the hearing before the Urban Development Department. Therefore, an order will be issued by the Urban Development Department regarding the removal of the pending beelas of Sparsh. This will be done soon.
Meanwhile, there was a change of power in the state. The then Urban Development Minister Eknath Shinde has now become the Chief Minister. Commissioner Rajesh Patil has been prematurely transferred within a period of just one and a half months after the Chief Minister took charge.

However, after being appointed as administrator, Patil has taken many controversial decisions in an arbitrary manner. In this, a tender of 312 crores for a new municipal building, a tender of 328 crores for mechanical road cleaning was announced. Also, the commissioner became controversial due to various decisions such as increase in rates in all municipal hospitals as per the government rates. Along with this, Rajesh Patil, after taking over the post of Municipal Commissioner, ran the administration in defiance of the local people’s representatives. Also, decisions were made during the administrative period. It is being said that the Commissioner was also affected.
Curb the ‘boss pattern’ in the municipality…
The ‘boss pattern’ of indirect contracting was being successfully implemented for the last several years through municipal administration and political pressure. If a contractor did not ‘manage’ in this, one would accuse in the hall. The second one would ‘manage’ the officials and the third one would go to the court… After the triple hit, the concerned contractor would seek financial benefits from the company. On this line, the then Additional Commissioner Ajit Pawar was removed by Commissioner Rajesh Patil after misleading the party leaders in the Sparsh case. Now the urban development department is all in trouble. Many people are going to be reined in the touch case. Therefore, former BJP corporator Tushar Kamthe has claimed that ‘boss pattern’ will not work in Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation in the future.
