Distribution of Assistive Devices to Divyang Students by Municipal Commissioner Shekhar Singh

PCMC | Municipal Commissioner and Administrator of Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation, Shekhar Singh, emphasized that Divyang students should make use of the newly constructed Divyang Bhavan and the assistive devices provided for their overall development.

The event was held at the Karmaveer Bhaurao Patil Primary School in Pimpri, under the CSR initiative of the Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation and Fiat India Automobile Private Limited, where Shekhar Singh distributed artificial limbs and assistive devices to Divyang students.

The event was attended by Sangita Bangar, Administrative Officer of the Education Department, Rakesh Baveja, CSR Head for Sustainability and Government Relations, Tananji Narale, Assistant Commissioner of the Social Development Department, along with 264 Divyang students and their parents from categories like hearing impaired, totally blind, mentally challenged, physically disabled, and those with cerebral palsy.

During the camp, 577 assistive devices were distributed to 264 students. These included wheelchairs, braille kits, hearing aids, TLM kits, rollators, CP chairs, walkers, programmable smartphones, smart canes, and calipers. In an earlier camp held in August, a total of 347 Divyang students were examined, and 264 students were recommended for assistive devices.

Commissioner Shekhar Singh stated that Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation is continuously working for the welfare of Divyangs and has been implementing various schemes for their benefit. He urged the teachers to focus on not only the education of Divyang students but also on nurturing their talents.

Additionally, a cultural program was organized to encourage the artistic talents of the Divyang students. The students performed dances, speeches, and group songs, with visually impaired students also presenting group songs.

Experts like Rajendra Pokale, Kavita Dhore, Tripti Dhomal, as well as special educators Sandip Bhujbal, Sachin Avchite, Renuka Bidwai, Mangal Gaikwad, Sheila Bhujbal, Sonam Salunkhe, Sujata Gaikwad, Ratnamala Lokhande, Jaishree Wadhye, Rupali Deshmukh, Madhuri Deshmukh, and Shobha Mashmenal contributed to the success of the event.

The program was introduced by Sangita Bangar, and the event was coordinated by Jalinder Raut. The vote of thanks was given by Pradeep Patil, Regional Manager of Fiat Company.
