Devendra Fadnavis will investigate malpractices in Mumbai Municipal Corporation through Urban Development Department

Now some employees of Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation are starting their own companies and doing work through Urban Development Department. Instructions will be given to the Municipal Commissioner to conduct an inquiry within a time bound manner. Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis said in the Assembly that a special audit of CAG will be done in the near future regarding some specific cases in Mumbai Municipal Corporation. Fadnavis was speaking while replying to the ruling party’s motion under Legislative Assembly Rule 293 regarding the remoteness of infrastructure facilities in Mumbai and MMR areas.

Deputy Chief Minister of the state Fadnavis said, many public representatives have raised issues regarding the quality of roads in Mumbai. There are about 1900 km of roads in Mumbai. 1200 km of these roads are tarred. The Chief Minister has taken a very important decision in this regard and directed to test whether 1200 km of roads in Mumbai can be made of concrete. The tender for the first four hundred kilometers of road work has been floated. The tendering process for the rest of the work is underway. It has been decided that the tender process will be made transparent and the road development works should be given to reputed companies/organizations doing quality work. Emphasis will be placed on quality work in the coming time. Priority will be given to quality road development works.

Also, the state government has decided to make the roads in the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation area concrete. A tender has been issued for the construction of four hundred kilometers long roads in the first phase. Fadnavis also said that concrete roads will be completed in Mumbai in the next 3 years.
