As party elites resolved to ‘100 percent BJP’, all the leaders including Maharashtra have started working towards that. But in the struggle to achieve this goal, many leaders could not hide their hopes. State Minister for Higher and Technical Education, Textiles and Parliamentary Affairs Chandrakant Patil is one of those leaders. Now he has indirectly expressed his regret for the passing of the state president. Eknath Khadse, a one-time BJP leader and current NCP MLA, made his ambition public and was sidelined in the BJP. In the 2014 elections, the BJP won by a landslide and then Devendra Fadnavis was given the Chief Ministership. Khadse expressed his displeasure about this publicly. He was interested in this post. A similar sentiment was expressed by Pankaja Munde. Pankaja Munde had made a statement that although I could not actually become the Chief Minister, I am the Chief Minister in the minds of the people of the state. While announcing the name of Eknath Shinde for the post of Chief Minister, Devendra Fadnavis announced that he will not participate in the government. But later he had to accept the post of Deputy Chief Minister as per the party order. This was expressed by the then state president of BJP Chandrakant Patil in the state executive meeting at Panvel. He had said that he made Eknath Shinde the Chief Minister with a stone in his heart.
So, in the 2019 elections, BJP wanted to win again. Therefore, the incoming in the party starts strongly. Even then, Chandrakant Patil had expressed his heart. He had admitted that the culture of the party had been disturbed due to mega recruitment. He had said that it is the culture of BJP that one should not ask for nomination and it was somewhat shocked by the mega bharti. He had accepted this mega recruitment with a kind of stone on his mind.
Now once again in an interview, he had expressed the opinion that the state president is preferred for party leadership over ministership. Due to his inclusion in the state cabinet, he had to leave the post of state president. It seems that even this time they have to bend their will by keeping a stone on their mind.
