Pimpri-Chinchwad : Representative In the winter session of the Nagpur Legislative Assembly, BJP leader and MLA Mahesh Landge took a strong stand on the demand for stringent action against illegal scrap dealers and Bangladeshi infiltrators in the Chikhli-Kudalwadi area of Pimpri-Chinchwad. While raising the issue of Bangladeshis and Rohingyas in this region before Assembly Speaker Rahul Narvekar, Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis assured that the matter would be taken seriously, and that the Municipal Commissioner and Police Commissioner would be instructed to take necessary action. He also mentioned the need to be vigilant about any unrest following the action in Kudalwadi and Chikhli areas.
The winter session of the Maharashtra Legislature is being held in Nagpur. During this session, MLA Mahesh Landge highlighted the issue to the state government, and Chief Minister Fadnavis responded positively.
MLA Landge said that, so far, Pimpri-Chinchwad police had deported more than 70 illegal Bangladeshi nationals residing in the city. These infiltrators enter India through the West Bengal border with fake documents like Aadhaar cards, PAN cards, and passports. It has come to light that these Bangladeshi infiltrators are involved in anti-national activities. The number of Bangladeshi infiltrators and Rohingyas is increasing, and there is a need to take action against them.
Bangladeshi infiltrators are readily available in Pimpri-Chinchwad, Chakan, Ranjangaon, Talegaon, and other MIDC areas, where they work for lower wages. As a result, local youth are unable to find jobs. Furthermore, some incidents have revealed that these infiltrators have connections to anti-national activities. This has made the issue more serious.
Fear of unrest after the action…
Recently, Pimpri-Chinchwad police and relevant authorities arrested 23 Bangladeshi infiltrators from various parts of the city. A large racket of agents is involved in issuing fake passports using forged identities. This racket is active not only in Pimpri-Chinchwad and Pune but also in other large cities, making the situation clear. Hence, the responsibility of Pimpri-Chinchwad police and municipal authorities has increased. It is necessary to conduct a combing operation in the Chikhli-Kudawadi area and arrest individuals and groups who might cause social unrest. There is also fear of large-scale unrest following such actions. MLA Landge has urged Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis to take immediate preventive measures and adopt a vigilant approach.
Response: The scrap warehouses in the Kudalwadi-Chikhli area are harmful to the city’s rivers, air, and the health of local residents. Frequent fire incidents cause significant property damage and environmental harm. There is also a concern that anti-national elements might be operating behind these incidents. Bangladeshi and Rohingya workers are employed in these scrap warehouses, but their records are not maintained. Therefore, there is an urgent demand for action against Bangladeshi infiltrators and Rohingyas. Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has assured that appropriate action will be taken.
