Pimpri-Chinchwad Survey Reveals 255,000 Unregistered Properties, Projected Annual Revenue Increase of ₹300 Crore

Pimpri-Chinchwad | The Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation has uncovered 255,000 properties in the city that are either unregistered or have undergone changes in their usage, following a comprehensive survey. This revelation is expected to contribute an additional ₹300 crore annually to the municipal treasury.
Currently, the city boasts 632,000 registered properties, but many residential and non-residential properties were not recorded by the municipality’s tax collection department. This oversight has led to significant revenue losses each year. To identify these unregistered properties, the municipality conducted thorough surveys using both on-ground inspections and drone technology.
The tax collection department has organized the city into 148 groups, assigning identification numbers to each building, house, and open space. Properties within high-density areas, such as slums, are also being numbered, and the process of imposing taxes on the newly identified properties is underway. Adjustments will be made for any changes in usage or new constructions.
With the recent findings, the municipality anticipates a substantial increase in revenue from property taxes, especially given that most of the unregistered properties are residential. After applying taxes to these properties, the annual revenue for the municipality is projected to rise by approximately ₹300 crore.
Additional Municipal Commissioner Pradeep Jambhale confirmed that the drone-assisted survey has successfully identified the 255,000 new properties. This initiative will lead to the registration of around 887,000 properties in total, significantly boosting the municipality’s revenue stream.
