New Eye Surgery unit established at PCMC’s Masulkar Colony Hospital
Advanced equipment to help treat around 4,500 patients annually, reducing wait times significantly
Pimpri Chinchwad: In a major boost to its eye care services, the Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) recently inaugurated a newly upgraded eye surgery unit at its dedicated Eye Hospital in Masulkar Colony, Pimpri. With the installation of advanced medical equipment, the facility can now perform 30 to 35 surgeries daily—up from the previous capacity of 20 to 25—substantially reducing the waiting period for patients and ensuring timely treatment.
The state-of-the-art surgical microscopes and necessary surgical instruments in the new unit have been provided by Cotmac Electronics Pvt Ltd under its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative. The new facility was formally inaugurated by Arjun Sirur, Managing Director and Chairman of Cotmac Electronics Pvt Ltd.
Present at the event were Nilkanth Poman, Chief Information and Technology Officer and CSR Head; Dr. Rajendra Wable, Dean of Yashwantrao Chavan Memorial Hospital; and Dr. Abhaychandra Dadewar, Additional Medical Officer of Health. The programme was organized by the CSR Cell’s Vijay Vavare and HoD Dr. Rupali Maheshgauri along with their team.

The Masulkar Colony Eye Hospital is a dedicated eye care centre run by the PCMC and plays a critical role in serving residents of nearby urban and rural areas, including the working-class population in the MIDC zone. Earlier, due to limited resources, patients had to wait for one to one-and-a-half months for eye surgeries. The upgraded setup will now allow the hospital to treat over 4,500 patients annually—an increase of nearly 50%.
This expansion is expected to ease the financial burden on patients and ensure that those from economically weaker sections receive timely and quality eye care without delays, offering them a significant relief.
