MSEDCL’s follow-up success; Extra power available from other companies including Mahanirmithi!

Consolation to customers in rising temperatures

Mumbai: MSEDCL’s efforts to provide additional power to relieve power consumers by minimizing the load shedding initiated by coal scarcity and increased demand in the wake of rising temperatures have been a great success. On Friday (Dec. 22), both Mahanirmiti and Adani have testified that they will provide more power to MSEDCL.

MSEDCL was getting about 6500 MW power from Mahanirmiti, it will get up to 7500 MW, while Adani Power Company will get 2250 MW power supply from 1700 MW from today and 3011 MW power will be available from midnight today.
In the meanwhile, load shedding in the state will be phased out if the gap between supply and demand is reduced depending on the availability of electricity.

MSEDCL buys electricity from public and private companies to supply electricity to 28 million customers in the state. Due to rising temperatures and increase in power consumption, there has been an unprecedented demand of 24,500 to 25,000 MW for the last few days in the rest of MSEDCL except Mumbai. However, there was a shortfall of about 2,300 to 2,500 MW due to shortage of power mainly due to coal shortages and other technical reasons. As a result, load shedding had to be done in some places in the state. Due to the acute shortage of coal and electricity in the country, a very unfavorable situation was created regarding the availability of electricity.
Minister of State for Energy no. Dr. Nitin Raut has directed to take immediate measures to fill the power deficit and in any case to ensure minimum load shedding in the state. Considering the possible situation of power shortage, the Chairman and Managing Director of MSEDCL, Shri. Vijay Singhal made emergency planning and worked tirelessly to provide additional power to minimize load shedding.

As a result of these efforts, both Mahanirmithi and Adani power generation companies have testified to MSEDCL about the availability of additional power. With the success of MSEDCL’s war-level efforts, the citizens of the state will be greatly relieved by the load shedding while the power crisis is looming due to the drought and coal shortage.
