200 CNG Buses to Join PMPMML Fleet, No Discussion on Fare Hike

Pune : Pune Mahanagar Parivahan Mahamandal Limited (PMPMML) will soon be receiving 200 CNG buses, as the board of directors has approved the purchase of buses from Tata Motors, according to Pune Municipal Corporation’s Additional Commissioner, Prithviraj B. P.
The process to procure 200 CNG buses for PMPMML has been underway for the past few months. A tender process had previously been conducted for this purchase. At that time, Ashok Leyland quoted a price of approximately ₹67 lakh per bus and also indicated readiness to provide maintenance for a certain period.
Due to the higher price, some terms and conditions were altered, and a re-tender was issued. The lowest bid came from Tata Motors, with a price of ₹47 lakh per bus. This bid was approved in the board meeting held on Friday. The financial contribution for PMPMML is shared between Pune Municipal Corporation (60%) and Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (40%).
However, PMPMML also operates bus services within the limits of PMRDA (Pune Metropolitan Region Development Authority), MIDC (Maharashtra Industrial Development Corporation), and the District Council areas, but the company does not receive financial assistance from these bodies for services in these regions. A request will be made to PMRDA, the District Council, and MIDC to provide financial assistance for bus procurement, Prithviraj said.
No Discussion on Fare Hike
There was no discussion or decision regarding a fare increase in the board meeting of PMPMML. A discussion on fare hikes will take place after the cabinet allocation of portfolios and in the presence of the guardian ministers, as informed by Prithviraj B. P.
