Demand action against Bangladeshis, Rohingyas, administration’s direct ‘Padapadi’

Pimpri- Chinchwad | The Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation has initiated action against unauthorized constructions, tin sheds, and scrap shops in the Kudalwadi-Chikhali area. BJP leader and MLA Mahesh Landge raised concerns in the winter session of the state legislature about frequent fire incidents in scrap shops and the illegal settlement of Bangladeshis and Rohingyas in the region. This led to the commencement of bulldozer action within two days.

The Municipal Corporation, under the K Regional Office, has taken action on approximately 9,000 square meters of area on both sides of a 300-meter-long 18-meter-wide DP road, from More-Patil Chowk to Kudalwadi Police Chowki, and a 550-meter-long 30-meter-wide DP road from Kudalwadi Police Chowki to Visawa Chowk. Around 30 RCC constructions and 45 brick constructions along with tin sheds, totaling 4,000 square meters of land, were demolished for encroachment.

In the past two days, action has also been taken on around 13,000 square meters of RCC constructions and tin sheds in the Chikhali-Kudalwadi area. Most of these were unauthorized shops run by scrap dealers. The Municipal Corporation has warned that action to develop roads under the approved development plan will continue in the future.

Due to frequent fire incidents, concerns were raised about the safety of society members and local residents. Additionally, the illegal burning of scrap and the discharge of chemically mixed water into the Indrayani River caused river pollution. The scrap business and the occurrence of fires have led to safety hazards, unhygienic conditions, and environmental damage in the area. Moreover, it was revealed during police action that many Bangladeshis and Rohingyas, residing in Pimpri-Chinchwad with fake documents, were working in scrap and waste shops. This issue has led to local residents welcoming the ongoing action.

It is the need of the hour to prevent the illegal settlement of Bangladeshis and Rohingyas in Pimpri-Chinchwad and the country, considering national security. In the past, there was political and administrative pressure to cater to specific communities. However, during the tenure of the Mahayuti government, no support will be given to acts that threaten national integrity under any circumstances. The campaign against unauthorized scrap shops and illegal businesses will continue. Local residents and the people of Pimpri-Chinchwad should cooperate. Additionally, the police administration must ensure that no inappropriate incidents take place, and full vigilance should be maintained.
