The Pune International Exhibition and Convention Centre (PIECC) in Moshi, one of the most significant projects in the state, is set to undergo a major transformation. Significant changes will be made to this center in view of future large-scale investments.

PCMC :-The Pune International Exhibition and Convention Centre (PIECC), one of the most important centers in the state, will be undergoing significant changes for large-scale investments in the future. These changes will include the development of a trade center (convention hall), five-star hotels, affordable hotels, conference halls, and commercial plots. This will create job opportunities for nearly one lakh young people. These development projects will significantly enhance the prosperity of Pimpri-Chinchwad as well.

Under the Pune Metropolitan Region Development Authority (PMRDA), an investment of around ₹2,000 crore will be made for the international exhibition and trade center on a 96-hectare plot in Moshi. Of this, ₹982 crore is estimated to be the budget. PMRDA is developing the international exhibition center on this plot. So far, international agricultural exhibitions, defense weapon exhibitions, and the Automotive Research Association of India’s exhibition have been held here. Over 12 exhibitions and events have been conducted at this venue to date.

PMRDA regularly organizes exhibitions related to quality construction for builders and developers. To date, only 10% of the development projects at the center have been completed. Now, the remaining development projects will be undertaken. Under the guidance of Municipal Commissioner Yogesh Mhase, significant changes will be made on the 96-hectare land at the exhibition center. A convention hall with a seating capacity of 5,000 will be built. Three conference halls, each covering 35,000 square meters, will be created. One five-star hotel and three affordable hotels will be constructed. The remaining vacant land will be developed into commercial plots.

The development work will be carried out in multiple phases, with at least 10 years expected for completion. Once the entire project is completed, approximately one lakh job opportunities will be available for the youth in Pimpri-Chinchwad and the surrounding areas. All development work will be carried out under a Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model.

According to the approved master plan, the total area of the center is 96.97 hectares, with an open exhibition center covering 9.80 hectares. In the past year, the center has received a great response, with nearly 9 major exhibitions held this year, some lasting two days and others up to 15 days. Through this, the authority has generated revenue of ₹2.30 crore in land and revenue departments.

The master plan for the site includes the construction of an exhibition hall, fire station, administrative center, VIP meeting areas, multi-level parking, trade center, metro station, budget hotels, primary school, and hospital. The estimated cost for these projects is ₹982 crore. This project will follow the “Build, Operate, and Transfer” (BOT) model, and a transaction advisor will be appointed for the project.

This project, which is expected to be completed in ten years, will place Pimpri-Chinchwad at the center of the exhibition industry. Currently, there is increasing demand for exhibition centers in Bangalore, Mumbai, and Moshi. Other projects are also under consideration by the authority. These projects are expected to change the face of the city, according to Executive Engineer Prabhakar Vasikar.

The development of the modern exhibition and convention center in Moshi will further enhance the prosperity of Pimpri-Chinchwad. Regular reviews of the project are being conducted, and an Expression of Interest (EOI) has been issued. Action on this will be taken soon.
