PCMC: Municipal Corporation to Provide Stipend to ITI Students
BJP MLA Mahesh Landge’s demand successful : Decision of Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation Administration

Pimpri-Chinchwad | Reporter । The Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) has approved a proposal to provide a stipend to the students enrolled in Industrial Training Institutes (ITI) operated by the corporation, similar to the stipend provided to students in government ITIs. The approval was granted by the Municipal Commissioner and Administrator Shekhar Singh.
BJP MLA Mahesh Landge had requested that all students enrolled in skill development courses under the Artisan Training Scheme in government ITIs receive a stipend of ₹500 per month from the academic year 2023-24. In response to this request, the municipal administration has taken action.
Meanwhile, the municipal administration had sent a proposal to the Maharashtra state government, requesting that ITI students of the municipal corporation also receive ₹500 as a stipend, following the state government’s model. However, it was clarified that this scheme would only apply to students enrolled in courses under the Artisan Training Scheme at government industrial training institutes. Consequently, the municipal administration was asked to take a decision at its level.
As a result, the Municipal Commissioner has approved the decision to provide a stipend to the students of the Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation’s Industrial Training Institute. The municipal corporation will spend approximately ₹4.5 lakh per month, providing ₹500 to around 900 students annually. Furthermore, it has been decided that if additional trades are introduced in the future, students in those trades will also be eligible for the stipend.
The children of families who have settled in the city for work or business opportunities from various corners of the state will now have the chance to develop skills, gain employment, and entrepreneurship opportunities through the Municipal Corporation’s ITI institutions. These students from ordinary families will be encouraged, and skilled manpower will be available for industrial companies in the city. I had requested that the Municipal ITI students receive a stipend in line with the state government’s model, and the administration has responded positively to this request. As a result, approximately 900 students will benefit from this annually.
