IIM Nagpur Branch Approved For Moshi; 70 Acres Of Land Secured, Development To Accelerate

Pimpri Chinchwad : The Indian Institute of Management (IIM) is set to establish a new branch in Moshi, Pimpri-Chinchwad. The municipal corporation, district collector’s office, and revenue department have shown positive support for this initiative. The new IIM branch aims to provide a prestigious educational platform for students in Pimpri-Chinchwad and the surrounding areas. It is expected to boost employment and entrepreneurship opportunities. Although the land has been secured, procedural action from the revenue department is still pending.

In a meeting held today in Mumbai, MLA Mahesh Landge presented the matter to Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis. The decision was made after consulting with various government authorities.

A senior PCMC authority confirmed about the project and informed that things are moving in the right direction. The formalities should follow soon from the state government authorities.

The project was initiated by Bhosari constituency MLA Mahesh Landage. Speaking to Pune Pulse, he said, “The proposed extension of IIM Nagpur to the government land in Moshi could create new opportunities for students from Pune, Pimpri-Chinchwad, and rural areas of the district. Considering the urban growth, industrial zones, and IT hubs in Pimpri-Chinchwad and Mumbai, establishing an IIM branch in Moshi would benefit city connectivity.”

It is also learnt that the district collectorate office is in the process of transferring the government land to IIM and is also preparing a proposal to change the land reservation status to the Maharashtra government. Officials are requested to expedite the necessary procedures to support this project.

Once referred to as a garbage depot area, Moshi is likely to gain recognition as a national-level educational institution. Earlier, the first Jagadguru of Maharashtra Sant Tukaram Maharaj Sant Peeth was inaugurated at Talgaon Chikhali. A grand building of Pimpri-Chinchwad Court with state-of-the-art facilities is being constructed in Moshi. Interestingly, a branch of the Government Engineering College is also being established in the city. Now if the IIM Institute is established in the city, the identity of Pimpri-Chinchwad will be prominently highlighted on the world map.
