Discharge from Jayakwadi Dam: River Godavari floods, many temples under water; Vigilance warning to villages

Seed: Jayakwadi dam is 90 percent full and around 28 thousand cusecs of water has been released into the Godavari tank through 18 gates of the dam. Therefore, vigilance warning has been given to the villages along the Godavari banks on behalf of the administration.

Panchalekshwar, Rakshasbhuvan in Gevrai taluka, Godavari vessel Duthadi Bharun is flowing and Datta Maharaja’s Atmatirtha temple at Panchalekshwar has gone under water. The idol of Shani Maharaja at Rakshasbhuvan has gone under water in this area. Due to continuous rain in the catchment area in Nashik district, the water storage in the dam area is increasing rapidly.
Around 20 thousand cusecs of water is being discharged from 18 gates of Jayakwadi. Therefore, the door of Hiradpuri, Bhandara has been opened. Due to this, the water is flowing into Godavari on a large scale and alert warning has been given to Surlegaon Panchalekshwar, Rashrasbhuvan, Khamgaon, Agar, Nadar, Sangam Jalgaon, etc. villages in Gevrai taluka on behalf of the administration. Godakath lands are completely submerged. As there is a possibility of water intrusion in some villages, the administration is paying attention to the situation.

A similar situation had arisen last year. At that time some villages were disconnected. So ND, RYF teams were deployed. The same situation is likely to happen this year as well. Shani Maharaj temple area is surrounded by water and the water in Godavari tank is rising rapidly. If the inflow of water continues like this, flood situation will arise. Therefore, vigilance orders have been given to the villages of Godakath on behalf of the administration.
