Thackeray government liberal on governor’s office!

Mumbai : Since the formation of the Mahavikas Aghadi government in the state, there have been clashes with Governor Bhagat Singh Koshyari on a number of issues. However, during the same government, the expenditure on Raj Bhavan increased by Rs 18 crore in two years, it was revealed in the RTI. Therefore, on the one hand, there is a conflict between the government and the governor, but on the other hand, the Thackeray government of the Mahavikas Aghadi is also showing generosity towards the governor’s office.

The state government is distributing large sums of money every year on the demand of Raj Bhavan. More than Rs 60 crore has been disbursed in the last two years. The state government has provided this information to RTI activist Anil Galgali. Galgali had sought information from the state government about the grant given by the government to the Raj Bhavan office. The General Administration Department provided information on the last five years included in the budget estimate booklet. Accordingly, in the year 2017-18, an amount of Rs. 13,97,23,000 was provided. Of this, Rs 12,49,72,000 was spent by the Raj Bhavan office. Subsequently, in 2018-19, the total provision was Rs. 15,84,56,000, out of which Rs. 13,71,77,000 was spent. In the year 2019-20, there was a provision of Rs. 19,86,62,000 out of which Rs. 17,63,60,000 was spent.

In the year 2020-21, out of the provision of Rs. 29,68,19,000, out of which Rs. 25,92,36,000 was spent. In the year 2021-22, out of the provision of Rs. 31,23,66,000, Rs. 27,38,56,000 was spent. 60,89,58,000 in the last two years as compared to 2019. Out of which Rs. 53,30,92,000 was spent. As a result, an additional amount of Rs 18 crore has been spent. Anil Galgali demanded that the Raj Bhavan office should make public the information about the increased expenditure and audit all the expenses and upload it on the website. He has also sent letters to Governor Bhagat Singh Koshyari, Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray and Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar.
