Yashwant Mane, head of NMC’s election branch, on Wednesday called on all field offices to prepare for the upcoming elections; Also held a meeting of engineers. This included reviewing the distribution of electoral rolls, offices for Returning Officers, Strongrooms, Polling Stations, Training Centers, publication of ward composition maps in the field offices. The voting process was carried out through 3432 booths in the 2017 Municipal Corporation elections. This year, 34 villages have been included in the municipal corporation and the number of voters in the municipal area has reached 34 lakh. About 4,000 booths will be required for this constituency. Information on safe polling stations, first floor polling stations has been compiled. Since the system has to be developed in 34 newly included villages in the municipal corporation, the highest emphasis has been given to this place.

Preparing to draw a reservation

The state Election Commission is likely to issue an order to release the reservation for the forthcoming elections. Against this background, if the date of the draw is fixed, how to make these reservations, what will be the process for it, as the draw will be held at Ganesh Kala Krida Rangmanch, the preparation of the place has also been reviewed. Although the municipal elections will be held in September-October, the reservation draw is likely to be held soon. Adequate precaution is being taken by the Municipal Corporation against this background.

Breaking voter lists

The Electoral Rolls are finalized by the Commission on January 1 of each year. This year, the lists have been finalized on January 5. These electoral rolls will be broken according to the final ward composition. The process of fixing ward wise number of booths has been started. The help of field offices is sought for this. According to the structure fixed by the State Election Commission, the health inspectors and engineers in the field offices determine the geographical boundaries of the polling booths through direct inspection. The voters who come to those booths make sure that they are from the same area. If needed, the help of local BLOs is sought. This has been discussed in detail in the review meeting held in preparation for the elections.
