Pune : Renowned singers Rahul Deshpande, Neha and Renuka participated in the Rangwa Ush Kagi Bappa initiative by Pune Handmade Papers, Art Pune Foundation and Pune Municipal Corporation, which focused on celebrating an eco-friendly Ganeshotsav.

Singer Rahul Deshpande says that he felt a different energy today while painting Kagdi Bappa himself with the students at the event which was held at the premises of Pune Handmade Papers in Shivaji Nagar. These eco-friendly Ganesha idols are unique and are made from a special blend of 80% cotton-paper pulp and 20% shadu clay. Importantly, the paper used in this is not produced by cutting down trees, but by improving the quality of the used paper i.e. by upcycling the paper. When Shobhana Hadap and Sanjeev Pawar informed me that these idols are light in weight and can be painted with water colors, I felt happy to be a part of a good initiative. This year, while celebrating Ganeshotsav with enthusiasm, let us all be aware of the environment.
