Saint Dnyaneshwar Mauli’s Palkhi Yatra group sculpture at Magazine Chowk on Ashadi Wari Palkhi Marg was inaugurated on Tuesday. Former BJP corporator Vikas Dolas had demanded that a group sculpture symbolizing the Warkari sect should be erected on the palanquin route. He has succeeded. Therefore, satisfaction is being expressed from Dighi and the citizens of the area.
Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation has installed sculptures at 15 places in the city under the Urban Environment and Beautification Project. These sculptures are made from waste. After the development of Palkhi Marg, sculptures bearing witness to Warkari sect should be erected in the chowk on BRT Marg, was demanded by the then corporator Vikas Dolas.
Meanwhile, the municipal administration has launched a ‘Swachhagraha Mohim’. Under this, emphasis is being laid on recycling items along with city cleanliness. Emphasis is being placed on enhancing the beauty of the city by recycling items as part of this.
Vikas Dolas said that the glorious tradition of Pimpri-Chinchwad, known as an industrial city and a working city, would add to the beauty of the city if the sculptures that bear witness to art, industry and culture were realized. The lifespan of these works of art is at least 25 years. This is a commendable initiative of the administration and a palanquin procession was erected at Bhosari-Alandi Road Magazine Chowk. Palkhi ceremony of Saint Shrestha Dnyaneshwar Mauli is taking place from Shrikshetra Alandi. Against this backdrop, the dedication of this sculpture seems to be satisfying.

MLA Mahesh Landage said that attractive murals have been created for the students of NMC’s ‘ITI’ from scrap materials. The murals have been installed in the Palika Bhavan. Also, the garden department has made pots and other materials from scrap materials. Attractive designs have been made by planting flowers in it. Some schools in the city have succeeded in implementing the zero waste concept. This matter is welcome. However, MLA Landage has also suggested that local people’s representatives should be trusted while erecting the sculpture.
