Project welcome from social workers including local beneficiaries
Pimpri: The city of Pimpri-Chinchwad, which has been a successful industrial city, a labor city, a best city and now a smart city, will now be ‘slum free’. Initiatives are being taken for this through the Slum Rehabilitation Authority. It is hoped that the ongoing SRA projects in the city will be instrumental in improving the living standards of the common man as the country’s ‘smart city’ is conceived by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
In the December 1995 Assembly session in Maharashtra, the Government of Maharashtra accepted the recommendations of the Afzulpurkar Committee and amended the Maharashtra Slum Areas (Reform, Elimination and Redevelopment) Act, 1971. Based on this, the Slum Rehabilitation Authority comprising the Chairman, Chief Executive Officer and other members was established.
In fact, the population of Pimpri-Chinchwad is around 30 lakhs. Of these, 14.78 per cent live in slums. Therefore, according to the ambitious policy of the Government of Maharashtra, an effective campaign is needed to uplift the living standards of the slum dwellers by providing them with the necessary facilities and free housing.
Under the slum rehabilitation project, about 3000 citizens of Khandevasti, Bhosari will get relief. 924 flats will be constructed under this project. Specially, for this project, Khandevasti Rehabilitation Development Committee, Omshakti Pratishthan, Masjid Siddhiki Akbar Trust, Dhammachakra Mitra Mandal, Khandevasti Ganesh Mandal, Dhammachakra Mahila Mandal, b. B. Organizations such as Fatima Mahila Bachat Gat have taken the initiative in unison.
What are the benefits of hut owners?
How will the slum dwellers in Khandevasti benefit through the Slum Rehabilitation Authority? It’s just as important to watch. According to the administration, the person who owns the house. That person is going to get a house. Also, the beneficiary who owns the shop will get the shop. According to the state government’s GR, the beneficiaries will get a house of 420 square feet i.e. carpet area of 300 square feet. The project will take place in Khandevasti, the same place where slum dwellers live.
Vigilant appeal to citizens
Attempts are being made to mislead the citizens by opposing the slum rehabilitation project at Khandevasti for personal gain or by giving false information. The slum dwellers registered in SRA. Their list is displayed in the main area of Khandevasti. There is an attempt to demand money by giving wrong information about this project. Some wise citizens are urging him not to fall victim.

I lived in a hut all my life. Now our children will get their rightful home. The administration has made a good decision to uplift the living standards of our people. There will also be a playground for children and a place of religious worship. The kingdom of filth is about to end, and we will experience a better lifestyle. It feels satisfying.
