PCMC : Pimpri Chinchwad joins global pact to combat climate change!

This global initiative brings together over 13,700 cities

Pimpri-Chinchwad: The Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) has officially joined the Global Covenant of Mayors for Climate and Energy (GCoM), a prestigious international alliance committed to tackling climate change. This global initiative brings together over 13,700 cities from 144 countries to collectively address the climate crisis.

By signing onto this covenant, PCMC has pledged to take concrete steps toward reducing greenhouse gas emissions, increasing the use of clean and sustainable energy, and preparing climate resilience plans to mitigate the impacts of environmental disasters. This commitment marks a significant stride in the city’s efforts to protect the environment and promote sustainable urban development.

Participation in GCoM enables PCMC to engage in knowledge-sharing with other cities worldwide, access technical support and training, and adopt globally recognized best practices. This collaboration is expected to enhance the city’s climate action strategies and contribute positively to citizen well-being, energy efficiency, and long-term environmental sustainability.

“For a rapidly growing city like Pimpri Chinchwad, environmental protection is not just a necessity—it is our responsibility. Joining the GCoM will give us access to global knowledge, technical assistance, and proven strategies, all of which will be instrumental as we move towards sustainability. This step will be crucial in our mission to transform Pimpri Chinchwad into a clean and green city by 2032.”
– Shekhar Singh, Commissioner, PCMC
