Pimpri-Chinchwad : A “Kumbh Mela” of environmental enthusiasts took place in Bhosari as part of the Indrayani River Cyclothon-2025, aimed at raising awareness for the cleanliness and conservation of the Indrayani River. Around 35,000 citizens, environmentalists, and cyclists participated in this vibrant rally. The world-record cycling event was held successfully at the historic Gav Jatra Ground in Bhosari.

Initiated by BJP Leader and MLA Mahesh Landge, the event was supported by the Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation, Pimpri-Chinchwad Police Commissionerate, and numerous volunteer organizations like Aviraat Shramdan, Cycle Mitra Pune, Mahesh Dada Sports Foundation, Shivanjali Sakhi Manch, and Sarthi Helpline.

This year’s Indrayani River Cyclothon broke its own record, surpassing the previous year’s record for the largest cyclists’ lineup. The event, much like the Kumbh Mela in Prayag, brought together thousands of environmentalists for a powerful cause. The atmosphere in Bhosari was vibrant from 5 AM onwards, with participants beginning their cycling journey after the ceremonial flag-off by dignitaries. Cyclists traversed 5, 15, and 25 km routes, spreading the message of environmental conservation. This event, now in its 9th year, is held annually and organized free of charge. The 2025 theme focused on Traffic Rules & Road Safety.

Cyclists were provided with T-shirts, medals, and refreshments during the event.

Inspiring Participation of Differently-Abled Cyclists

This year’s Indrayani River Cyclothon saw an inspiring participation from differently-abled individuals, whose involvement left a lasting impact. The event also featured the Purple Jallosh program, organized by the municipal administration. In a heartwarming gesture, a Ganga Aarti was held to express gratitude to the Indrayani River. A commitment was made to work towards restoring the river’s past glory through the upcoming Indrayani River Improvement Project and public awareness initiatives.

BJP MLA Mahesh Landge and other officials joined in a lively Zumba dance session, creating an infectious energy among the crowd.

“River conservation is the foundation of a city’s healthy future. When citizens, social organizations, and representatives come together for river preservation, the city’s well-being is secured. Initiatives like Indrayani River Cyclothon help foster an environmental protection movement. I express my heartfelt gratitude to everyone who contributed to the success of this year’s rally, which is dedicated to the Mahakumbh Mela. Let us continue to uphold our culture and traditions.”
