A meeting of the Pune Metropolitan Region Development Authority (PMRDA) chaired by Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray approved a possible revenue and capital expenditure estimate of Rs 2,419 crore for 2022-23. Substantial provision was made for housing projects, ring roads, various town planning schemes and innovative schemes.
Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar was present from the Ministry and Urban Development Minister Eknath Shinde was present through the television system. The meeting was attended by Additional Chief Secretary of Finance Manoj Sounik, Additional Chief Secretary of Revenue Nitin Karir, Principal Secretary of Urban Development Bhushan Gagrani, PMRDA Commissioner Suhas Divase from the Ministry while Pune Municipal Commissioner Vikram Kumar, Collector Dr. Rajesh Deshmukh etc. were present on this occasion through the television system.
The Authority has set aside an initial balance of Rs. 1,334 crore for 2023-24 and Rs. A total of Rs 3,193 crore has been included in the budget and a total budget of Rs 2,419 crore has been proposed for capital expenditure and revenue expenditure. The budget includes substantial provision for housing projects, ring roads, various town planning schemes and innovative schemes undertaken by PMRDA.
A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was approved with the International Finance Corporation (IFC), a member of the World Bank Group. Following the non-binding agreement, IFC will provide PMRDA with advisory services, study of infrastructure projects, capacity building programs and project-wise financing.
Agreements were signed with the European Union’s Urban and Regional Cooperation (International Urban and Regional Cooperation) and the Karlsruhe City Council in Germany to establish a well-planned integrated township in the Pune metropolitan area. The proposed city will have integrated facilities such as industrial housing and commerce. For this, a large amount of foreign investment, exchange of technology will be done and a large number of jobs will be created.
Approved to change the name of Pune Metroline-3 (Hinjewadi-Shivajinagar) to Pune Metroline-3 (Maan-Hinjewadi-Shivajinagar). The meeting also approved to provide Rs 1 crore to the Directorate of Sports for the PMR Open tennis tournament at the international level. Necessary expenditure was approved for the construction of integrated double flyover with Metro at the site of the demolished bridge at Savitribai Phule Pune University Chowk on Metro Line-3.
Mhalunge town planning scheme no. 1 Development of roads, bridges, ditches, rain gutters, sewage management, power supply substation Mhalunge Hi-Tech City was approved to be developed step by step on Public Private Partnership (PPP) or EPC basis. For the Metro Line-3 project and for the new integrated flyover at University Chowk, 1,893 sq. M. Expenditure on acquisition of farmers’ lands for this metro line through direct purchase process was also approved post-work.
