7-storey ‘Marathi Bhasha Bhavan’ in front of Marine Drives, Bhumi Pujan to be held at Gudipadva by CM

Bhumi Pujan of Marathi Bhasha Bhavan, Main Center will be held at the hands of Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray on Marathi New Year Day Gudipadva (April 2, 2022) at 11 am. Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar, Revenue Minister Balasaheb Thorat, Marathi Language Minister Subhash Desai, Mumbai Guardian Minister Aslam Sheikh, Minister of State for Marathi Language Dr Vishwajeet Kadam, MP Arvind Sawant and MLA Mangal Prabhat Lodha will be present at the function.

The decision to build the main center of Marathi Bhasha Bhavan in South Mumbai area and sub-center at Airoli, Navi Mumbai was taken in the cabinet meeting. Marathi Bhasha Bhavan and Marathi Bhasha sub-centers will be constructed by Maharashtra Industrial Development Corporation.

For the construction of Marathi Bhasha Bhavan main center, it has been decided to give the vacant land to the Marathi Language Department free of cost, except for the construction of the school education department on the plots at Girgaon, Jawahar Bal Bhavan, Charni Road, Mumbai. About 2100 sq.m. The area will be given to Marathi Bhasha Bhavan. The construction of Marathi Bhasha Bhavan will cost around Rs. 126 crores. M / s. P.K. Das & Associates has been selected as the architect.

  • How about Marathi Bhasha Bhavan?
  • To develop and nurture the Marathi language, the proposed Marathi Bhasha Bhavan at Marine Drive will be located on Charni Road. The project site will be on a seafront plot at Charney Road.
  • The site is in front of Marine Drive and is bounded on the west by Maharashtra Primary Education Council and on the east by Savitridevi Phule Women’s Hostel. The space will be approximately 54 meters long and 32 meters wide on average.
  • The Marathi Bhasha Bhavan (G + 7) has seven more floors and will also have a basement. It will be 39 meters long and about 22 meters wide.
  • The concept is that there will be an open public platform on the first floor. People on Marine Drive have direct access. There will be a series of steps from Marine Drive to this stage.
  • The second entrance to the building is given by the open space on the north from where access to the stairs and elevator is possible.
  • The building will have a 200-seat multipurpose auditorium, a 145-capacity amphitheater, four floors of exhibition space and one floor of administrative and office space.
  • The four-story exhibit is classified into four sections. The history of Marathi language and its evolutionary journey can be seen here.
  • The exhibition will feature specially made films, three-dimensional images (holograms) and photocopies.
  • Approximately 50 feet / 35 feet map of Maharashtra will be eye-catching.
  • This map will depict the locations of all the distinguished winners and personalities who have contributed to the evolution of language.
  • This map can be used digitally by visitors for an in-depth study of each individual website and personality, including their original location.
  • Out of the 4 floors of the showroom, 3 floors will be surrounded by a mesh made of copper metal. For this, a special Marathi script will be created from the composition of the letters.
  • The building has a 200-capacity auditorium and will be in the basement area.
  • A multi-storey car park is proposed at the rear of the building.
  • The total construction area of ​​the project is approximately 6583 sq.m. (70,858 sq. Ft.).
