पाकिस्तानी माजी क्रिकेटर शाहिद आफ्रिदी ‘गेम चेंजर’ या आत्मचरित्रामुळे चर्चेत आहे. या आत्मचरित्रात त्याने स्वत:चे वय, स्पॉट फिक्सिंग, गौतम गंभीर, जावेद मियांदाद यांसारख्या अनेक विषयांवर आक्षेपार्ह टिप्पणी केली आहे. यासाठी त्याला नेटकऱ्यांनी धारेवर देखील धरले होते. आता पुन्हा एकदा तो आपल्या मुलींच्या अभिव्यक्ती स्वातंत्र्याबाबत केलेल्या विधानामुळे चर्चेत आला आहे.
आफ्रिदीला अक्सा, अज्वा, अस्मारा, आणि अंशा या चार मुली आहेत. आपल्या मुलींनी कुठे जावे आणि कुठे जाऊ नये, याबाबत तो खूपच जागरूक आहे. तसे त्याने त्याच्या आत्मचरित्रात लिहिले आहे. तो एक धार्मिक माणूस आहे. त्यामुळे पुढारलेल्या विचारसरणीला तो फारसे प्राधान्य देत नाही. आपल्या मुलींना कोणत्याही सार्वजनिक ठिकाणी खेळण्याची संमती त्याने दिलेली नाही. त्याच्या या विचारांशी त्याची पत्नी व कुटुंबिय सहमत आहेत. त्याने आपल्या कुटुंबियांशी चर्चा करूनच हा निर्णय घेतला आहे, असे त्याने आत्मचरित्रात लिहीले आहे.
त्याच्या घरातील स्त्रियांना अभिव्यक्ती स्वतंत्र्य आहे. परंतु तो एक पारंपारिक प्रवृत्तीचा व्यक्ती असल्यामुळे त्याने मुलींना घराबाहेर खेळण्यास बंदी घातली आहे, अशी माहिती शाहिद आफ्रीदीने आपल्या गेम चेंजर या आत्मचरित्रात दिली आहे.
आज विसाव्या शतकात स्त्री व पुरुष समानतेचे वारे जगभरात वाहू लागले आहेत. स्त्रियांनी आपल्या महत्वाकांक्षेच्या जोरावर प्रत्येक क्षेत्रात आपले कर्तृत्व सिद्ध करून दाखवले असताना शाहिद आफ्रिदीचे विचार अनेकांचा रुचलेले नाहीत. परिणामी त्याच्या मताशी सहमत नसलेल्या अनेकांनी त्याला ट्रोल करण्यास सुरुवात केली आहे.
